SIOS Technology, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Mr. Nobuo KITA; listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers Index, number 3744; hereinafter referred to as SIOS) is launching Japanese national sales of LifeKeeper (HA cluster software), which has until now been marketed extensively both in Japan and internationally, for Fusion-io’s ‘ioDrive’ (implementing Flash memory on PCI-Express boards in ultra high speed storage products). SIOS has already introduced this product to the US and Europe and forecasts sales of 900 units globally over the next 3 years.
By virtue of its ultra low latency function (data response delay time) compared to the traditional SAS disk or the shared external storage, ‘ioDrive’, the next-generation high speed semiconductor storage, is advancing the application of large-scale web services enabling frequent transactions such as securities trading or communications services which deal with sensitive data. High availability is demanded in systems supporting such services where mission criticality is high since there is a risk of losing the trust of customers or corporate clients or of losing business opportunities when malfunctions occur. When the HA cluster *1 and data replication *2 functions of LifeKeeper are coupled *3 with ioDrive, ioDrive’s superior functionality kicks in and a system with high availability can be produced.
SIOS, while taking advantage of the experience gained both in Japan and abroad of introducing HA clusters and data replication in the construction of a system of high availability will continue to strengthen its collaboration with Fusion-io and strive to expand sales of this product. In addition, on Friday, May 25th SIOS and Fusion-io are holding a joint seminar on this product (for general information and registration please see below).
Fusion-io’s VP in charge of alliances, Tyler Smith, says the following with regard to the solution provided by this collaboration:
“Fusion-io has continued to collaborate with SIOS Technology in the US. It has also introduced the high-availability solution to a large number of companies. I am very pleased that on this occasion both companies are able to apply their best practice to the Japanese market. I expect that the benefits of Fusion-io products such as low latency performance, durability and superior reliability are enjoyed all the more by customers using this solution.
Fusion-io is collaborating with an advanced team such as that of SIOS Technology in order to provide enterprise-class high-availability solutions to customers of enterprise businesses or data center environments in the future.”
*1: HA cluster (HA = High Availability):
A function to prevent system failure when an automatic switch to a standby system is made in the event of an information system malfunction.
*2: date replication:
Storage of the same data in multiple storage devices, features that enhance reliability, fault tolerance or accessibility.
*3: System configuration image
